Description:
The Sacrifice is a moody reimagining of the myth of St. George and the Dragon, reframing the fable’s familiar arc to explore themes of self-satisfaction, apprehension, fear, and ultimate sacrifice. I directed a team of artists through production while also contributing compositing and animation, shaping the piece into a dark, atmospheric retelling.

For the landscape backgrounds, we took a nontraditional approach by layering vintage floral print fabric patterns beneath silhouetted forms. We also drew inspiration from the cut-out animation style of Terry Gilliam’s Monty Python sequences. In a chance encounter, Gilliam himself expressed joy and support for our homage, remarking with delight: “I did the same thing!” — noting he had once used the very same process in crafting his iconic animations.
